When you’re tall, big-footed, a fan of cool shoes, AND happen to be in the Portland area, visiting Oddball’s brick and mortar store is a must. This is true regardless of your fame level. As a result, we’ve supplied shoes to some of the most well-known (and some lesser-known) NBA players of this age. Not to mention NFL players, pro strongmen, and Bigfoot himself. These encounters are commemorated on our wall of fame, a collection of big footprints, signatures, and trading cards that we are always excited to expand. You’d have to visit our store in Portland to get the full experience, but this blog post will give you a taste of what we have on display.
MOST VALUABLE CUSTOMER
While all of our customers are valuable to us, basketball stars or not, we feel that Channing Frye deserves a special shoutout. Since his first order in 2007, Channing has placed a total of 59 orders, making him not only our most loyal NBA customer, but also one of our most loyal customers in general. Thank you Channing!
THE BIGGEST FOOT
At a true size 20, Boban Marjanovic boasts the biggest footprint on the wall, and veteran Oddball employees attest to the magnitude of Boban’s foot. It’s no surprise that he has the biggest foot on the wall, as Boban does happen to be the tallest active player in the NBA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. (Cue the comments from all the people who have a bigger, wider, or wackier foot than Boban).
BLAST FROM THE PAST
While most of the wall is covered with our athletic friends, we also display some memorabilia, to remind us of the beginning. And while that sounds super fancy, I really just mean we have an article on the wall from when Oddball was featured in the Oregonian back in the day, right after the store opened its doors for the first time. Twenty-some years after it all began, it’s things like these that remind Zac, Seth, and even the odd customer passing through Oddball of the history of this company.
If you’re interested in reading the article, leave a comment and let me know. I’ll transcribe and/or scan it on a separate post if it’s something you’d like to see. For this post, I’ll just include a picture.
This wall has traveled between all of our locations and grown along the way. Beyond being an impressive collection of celebrity signatures the Wall of Fame is a perfect distraction for customers when they’re being rung up and is a constant reminder of our army of supporters, athletically skilled or not. Got any questions about the wall? Ask us in the comments. Or make the trip to Portland to check it out in person!
